An Ancient Monijiao Mantra

The following is the most common mantra recited throughout the day by Monijiao Buddhists. This is part of a Monijiao inscription from the early 1400’s C.E. (shown in a restored rendition in the photo to the right). The original carving was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.

清净, 光明, 大力, 智慧 , 摩尼 光佛

Qingjing Guangming Dali Zhihui Moni Guangfo

Purity, Light, Power and Wisdom, Moni the Buddha of Light.
